The Sportsman Pub

The Sportsman Pub

good food, good ale, good company

Welcome to The Sportsman Pub

The Sportsman is a friendly, traditional free house country pub which is over 200 years old with a varied and interesting history. It is situated in the village of Strines, halfway between Buxton and Stockport on the edge of the Peak District, on the main road between Marple and New Mills.

There are great walking routes along the Goyt Way and the Peak Forest Canal which is only 200 metres from the pub, walkers and dogs are very welcome. We also have a large car park.

The pub offers spectatular views over the Goyt valley which can be enjoyed from the cosy interior in front of a roaring log fire in the winter or from the decked balcony and terraced areas in the summer. Youll be surprised at the wonderful wildlife surrounding the pub. We also have darts, dominoes and crib facilities in our smaller bar - The Vault.

We have a reputation for good home cooked food with a traditional menu including roasts on Sunday along with Chefs’ recommends on the specials board. There is also a choice of excellent real ales, check out our guest beers available this week.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
